Complete fabrication drawings, material cut lists, hardware specifications,
and assembly sequences for all three contractor-built desk types in the
MediaVerse Studio Complex. These are custom-built items — not
off-the-shelf furniture.
All desks on this page are fabricated on site by the construction team.
Desk dimensions are driven by acoustic monitor geometry, equipment ergonomics, and floor box positions
defined in ACOUSTIC-CONSTANTS.js. Do not substitute off-the-shelf furniture without
written consultant approval.
Material Standard — Unless noted otherwise, all plywood is
birch-faced cabinet-grade plywood (B/BB grade minimum). MDF may
substitute for internal shelving and non-visible structural panels. All exposed
edges receive 2mm PVC edge banding (iron-on or pre-glued) in a
color-matched finish.

Cut all parts per the cut list. Sand plywood faces to 180 grit. Verify all dimensions before proceeding.
Route cable trough in desktop. Use a plunge router with 80mm straight bit, 10mm depth channel running front-to-back along center axis.
Cut floor box hatch opening in desktop (200x200mm) at the position aligned with CR-FB. Use jigsaw with fine-tooth blade. Set the cut-out piece aside for re-hinging.
Drill grommet holes using a 60mm hole saw. Positions: 300mm from each side edge, 100mm from rear edge. Test-fit grommets.
Apply edge banding to all exposed plywood edges using iron-on PVC banding. Trim flush with a banding trimmer and sand smooth.
Attach shelf support cleats to inner faces of side panels at 350mm from bottom edge. Glue + screw with 4x30mm wood screws.
Assemble carcass. Join side panels to rear stretcher using confirmat screws + glue. Use a square to ensure 90-degree angles. Clamp until dry.
Install equipment shelf. Slide shelf onto cleats, secure with screws from below through cleats.
Attach desktop. Position desktop on top of carcass. Secure from below using pocket-hole screws or direct wood screws through angle brackets at corners.
Install piano hinge on floor box hatch. Attach hinge to rear edge of hatch opening, then attach hatch panel. Verify it opens flush and closes flat. Install magnetic catch.
Mount monitor arm rail. Screw hardwood rail to rear edge of desktop (from below with steel angle brackets). Pre-drill VESA mounting holes at 200mm intervals.
Install cable grommets. Press-fit brushed nickel grommets into pre-drilled holes.
Apply Sorbothane pads to bottom of each leg. Clean contact area with isopropyl alcohol first; use contact adhesive or self-adhesive pads.
Final inspection. Verify surface is level. Test hatch operation. Confirm grommet fit. Check all joints for rigidity. Position over floor box CR-FB and verify alignment.
Floor box alignment: Before fastening the desk permanently,
verify the floor box hatch opening aligns precisely with CR-FB (x:100, y:76
per ACOUSTIC-CONSTANTS.js). The desk position must allow the hatch to open
fully without obstruction.

Video/Podcast Studio Podcast Table (folding)
Wall-mounted folding table designed for 3-person podcast recording in the Video/Podcast Studio.
Folds flat against the north wall when not in use, providing maximum floor space for
other video production activities. When deployed, seats three side by side facing south
(toward camera position).
Overall Dimensions
Width: 1800 mm (seats 3 side by side)
Depth: 700 mm
Surface: 25mm birch plywood, rounded front edge (radius 10mm)
Mounting: North wall of Video/Podcast Studio
Key Features
Wall-mounted folding brackets — Heavy-duty folding brackets rated 100kg+. 2 brackets minimum, spaced at 600mm from each end. Fold flat when not in use.
When folded: Projects only ~50 mm from wall. Zero acoustic impact.
When deployed: Adds +1.26 m² reflective surface. RT60 impact: +0.02–0.03s (within acceptance threshold).
3x mic boom clamp points — Rode PSA1+ compatible desk-mount clamp positions along rear edge, spaced 500 mm apart (at 400mm, 900mm, 1400mm from left edge).
Center cable grommet — 60mm at table center (900mm from left, 350mm from front). Cable drop to existing floor box ST-FB (x:671, y:310).
Barrel bolt lock — Secures table in deployed (horizontal) position. Prevents accidental folding during recording.
Piano hinge — Full-width (1800mm) piano hinge where table meets wall bracket mounting plate.
Acoustic impact assessment: The deployed table adds
+1.26 m² of reflective plywood surface. Calculated RT60
increase is +0.02–0.03s, which remains within the
acceptable tolerance for the Video Studio. No additional absorption treatment
is required. When folded, the acoustic footprint is effectively zero.

Wall Mounting Detail
Structural requirement: Each folding bracket must be anchored
into a wall stud or masonry — never into plasterboard alone.
Use a stud finder to locate framing members. If the north wall is masonry block,
use M10 sleeve anchors rated for the wall material. Load test each bracket to
150% of rated load (150 kg) before attaching the table surface.

Assembly Sequence
Cut table surface to 1800 x 700mm from 25mm birch plywood. Round front edge with a 10mm radius roundover router bit on both top and bottom edges.
Drill cable grommet hole at center (900mm from left edge, 350mm from front edge) using 60mm hole saw.
Glue reinforcement strip to underside of rear edge. Clamp firmly and allow 24 hours cure time. This strip provides the hinge mounting surface and mic clamp depth.
Glue mic boom clamp blocks to underside at positions: 400mm, 900mm, and 1400mm from left edge, aligned with rear edge. These provide the 40mm+ clamping depth required by the Rode PSA1+.
Apply edge banding to side edges and rear edge (front edge is rounded, no banding needed). Trim and sand flush.
Mark bracket positions on wall. Bracket centers at 600mm from each end of the table (i.e., at 600mm and 1200mm from left). Table surface height = 750mm from floor. Use a level line.
Locate wall studs or verify masonry. Use stud finder or test drill. Bracket mounting points MUST hit solid framing or masonry — no hollow plasterboard-only mounting.
Install wall-mount plates. Drill pilot holes. Install M10 anchors (3 per bracket, vertically spaced). Torque to specification. Verify brackets are level.
Attach piano hinge. Screw hinge to wall mounting plate (one leaf) and to the table rear edge reinforcement strip (other leaf). Verify the table swings freely up and down.
Install barrel bolt lock. Mount barrel bolt receiver on wall plate (center, between brackets). Mount barrel slide on underside of table. Verify bolt engages when table is horizontal.
Install cable grommet. Press-fit brushed nickel grommet into center hole.
Apply rubber bumper pads to the table face at the wall contact points (top two corners and center) to prevent surface damage when folded.
Load test. Deploy table, engage barrel bolt. Apply 150 kg distributed load (1.5x rated). Hold for 5 minutes. Check for bracket deflection, anchor loosening, or hinge strain. Must pass before approving for use.
Verify cable path. Route a test cable from center grommet down to floor box ST-FB (x:671, y:310). Ensure cable can reach when table is deployed and does not snag when table is folded.
Folding clearance: Before finalizing wall position, verify the
table can fold fully without hitting any wall-mounted acoustic treatment panels,
light switches, or outlets. The fold arc sweeps ~700mm below the hinge point.
